COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. — More than three years after a man was found shot to death inside a North Carolina home, investigators have arrested another suspect, bringing the number of people charged in connection with the case to four.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation announced October 29 that Terrell Demond White, 35, had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Tracey Lovell Taylor.

White was arrested in Guilford County and booked into the High Point Detention Center.

What Happened in 2023?

On July 21, 2023, Columbus County sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence at 805 Cemetery Road in Riegelwood, following reports of gunfire.

Deputies discovered Taylor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office requested assistance from the SBI, launching an investigation that has continued for more than three years.

Three Other People Previously Charged

White’s arrest is the latest development in a case that already involved three other defendants.

In September 2023, authorities announced charges against Tamrick Jamar Hobley, Trequan Lakeithan Age, and Alexia Zhnae Frink, all reportedly from Wilmington.

According to earlier reporting on arrest warrants, Hobley and Age were accused of conspiring to rob Taylor at his residence.

Hobley was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Age was charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and accessory after the fact to murder.

Frink was also charged as an accessory after the fact. Investigators alleged that Age and Frink helped conceal Hobley following the killing.

Those allegations have not been established as facts in court.

New Arrest Raises Questions

The latest arrest raises questions about what evidence led investigators to White more than three years after Taylor’s death.

Local reporting on the investigation alleges that White participated in the attempted robbery and fatal shooting, but authorities have not publicly detailed the evidence supporting his murder charge.

White’s arrest in High Point also gives the case a connection to the Piedmont Triad, even though the killing occurred in southeastern North Carolina.

CBS 17 reported that White was being held without bond and had a Columbus County court appearance scheduled for November 18.

Investigation Remains Open

The SBI says the investigation is ongoing and has not released additional details.

The current outcomes of the other defendants’ cases have not been independently confirmed.

All four defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

The Johnny Report will continue following the case for court developments and additional information about the evidence behind the latest arrest.
